He was the son of George E. Jr., and Eileen R. (Jones) Altenberger. His mother survives in Greenville. He married Jerri Lee Sharp, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Jared, Greenville; a daughter, Erin (Corey) Roessner, Dayton; a brother, Dana (Judy), VA; two sisters: Sherry (Michael) Gallagher, Bradford, and Anita (Tommy) Welch, OK; mother-in-law, Dorothy Sharp, Greenville; two brothers-in-law: David (Carrie) Sharp, Greenville, and Doug Sharp, Tipp City; and a sister-in-law, Lisa (Jeff) Byram, Bradford.

Deceased is father-in-law, Victor A. Sharp.

He graduated from Tucumcari High School, Tucumcari, New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for 34 years at ITW Hobart Brothers, Troy. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Greenville. He loved the outdoors; rather it was riding his bicycle, fishing, mowing, washing his cars or just sitting on the porch swing.

A funeral service will be at St. John Lutheran Church, North Greenville, with Pastor Alan Knoke officiating.
