DANVILLE REGISTER, Danville, Va., Thur., Sept. 9, 1909, p. 2, col. 2 [edited]. Mr. John S. Burch, an Old Confederate Soldier, died at his home on Union Hill Tuesday, in the 74th year of his age. His death came after a brief illness of only a few days. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Motley, and five grand-children; also two sisters, Mrs. Susan Thompson of Pittsylvania County and Mrs. Mary Abonather of Charlotte, N.C.
He was at the time of his death in the employment of the Southern Railway Company. Funeral services were conducted from the residence yesterday.
