Carl O. Gilbertson, age 56, of Reedsville, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 after a courageous two year battle with cancer at his home. He was born on August 15, 1956 in Chilton, son of Sylvia (Olson) Gilbertson and the late Orin Gilbertson. On December 26, 1977 he married Rachel Moede in Valders. Carl worked at Gruett's in Potter for almost 25 years, retiring in 2011 due to his illness. He was a member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville and the Central Wisconsin Antique Tractor Pullers. Survivors include his wife Rachel, his children, Angela (Gregory) Kiley of Reedsville, Timothy (Tanya) Gilbertson of Brillion, Krista (Robert) Krepline of Reedsville, and Alec Gilbertson of Reedsville, foster son Justin (fiance' Kendall) Finlan of Two Rivers, 5 grandchildren Tori, Kendra, Cole, Becky and Bobby, his dog "Buddy", his mother, Sylvia Gilbertson of Manitowoc, sisters and brothers, Germaine Link of Fall River, Wayne Gilbertson of Brillion, Donald (Linda) Gilbertson of Collins, Kathy (Gary) Grassell of Reedsville, Deanna (Paul) Farley of Silver Cliff, Nancy Braun of Manitowoc, John (Cindy) Gilbertson of Appleton, Alan Gilbertson of Brillion, Paul Gilbertson and special friend Laurie of Chilton, his mother-in-law Florence Moede of Reedsville, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Debra Schlies of Brillion, William (Darlene) Moede of Alabama, John Moede and special friend Debra of Reedsville, Dr. A.J. (Jane) Moede of Menomonie MI, Jim (Patti) Denk of Pine River, and many very special aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive. Carl was preceded in death by his father Orin, 2 sisters, Mary and Rita, a brother Gerald, father-in-law Ralph Moede, 2 brothers-in-law Lloyd Link and Henry Vander Zanden, a special nephew Joshua, a special niece Leanna, and special friend Eric. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15 at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. The Rev. Timothy Nommensen will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 4:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.wieting-funeralhome.com.
