Sarah was born to Jacob and Mary (Davis) Shockey in Fleming Co. KY and moved with her parents to Parke Co., IN. She married David C. Bloomfield in 1840 in Parke Co., IN. They were the parents to Cynthia, Amanda, John, Albert, Arthur and Elie. They raised and adopted Cynthia's sons, Odius and Claudius. The family moved to IL in 1866 and then to NE in 1882. In 1883, her husband died. She died from complications of a broken hip.
