Saturday morning, Aug 25, at Scott and White Hospital, Temple, after a long illness. She was a lifelong Rockdale resident.
She was born July 27, 1919 in Rockdale to Mr and Mrs Emory J (Annie Matthews) Alford. She and Nathaniel Lee Young were married Feb 11, 1938, in Rockdale. Mrs Young was preceded in death by her husband on Feb 9, 1987.
Survivors include her mother, Annie Alford; two sons, Barkley Lee Young, and James Roy Young; a daughter Carolyn Ann Drummond; three brothers, Jack Alford, Emery Alford, and Billy Alford; four sisters, Mary Lee Harris, Annie Mae McKee, Carrie Guthrie and Dixie Cleveland; also six grandchildren, Daryl Young, Lori Schwartz, Gina Newman, Wendy Valdez, Dee Ann Estlack and Marc Young. Pallbearers were Zeke Young, Johnny Young, Robert Cleveland, Kenny Harris, Charles Alford and Paul Johnson. Mrs Young was a member of Forest Grove Christian Church. Phillips and Luckey-Rockdale.
