Roland P. (Rollie) Buchholz

Roland P. (Rollie) Buchholz, age 59, of 770 E. Albert Dr., Manitowoc, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002 at Aurora Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William O'Brien with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Rollie was born on June 25, 1942 in the town of Morrison, son of the late Reinhart and Hilda (Zich) Buchholz. He served in the United States Army with a tour in Germany from 1960 until 1964. On Sept. 11, 1965, Rollie married the former Susan Karnitz at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He was employed at the Manitowoc Company for 29 years, retiring in July of 2001.

Survivors include his wife Susan Buchholz, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Tim Fochs, Mosinee, Wis.; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Anita Buchholz, Two Rivers; two grandchildren, Thomas and Danielle Buchholz, three step-grandchildren, Melinda, Katrina and Adam; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Carol Buchholz, Neenah, LeRoy Buchholz, Madison, Dave Buchholz, Fla., Sharon Buchholz, Reedsville; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Herman and Alvina Karnitz, Two Rivers; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Alice Gauthier, Two Rivers, Joan and Jim Kocian, Manitowoc, Ronald Karnitz, Madison. Rollie is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria and LaVerne Buchholz; one brother, Richard Buchholz; two brothers-in-law, Tom Moore and Leonard Gauthier.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2002 at The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by the Rev. William O'Brien. Visitation will continue form 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

Rollie was a hard worker who enjoyed hunting and spending time at his cottage. He will be sadly missed by those who loved and knew him.

The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
