Occupation: Carriage Builder, Railroad & Transportation Equipment"David Hanford of Unadilla, one of the oldest residents of the county and the founder of the Hanford Wagon works at that village, died at the home of his son, Walter Hanford, at Fairport, Monroe county, where he was passing the winter, on Saturday last, aged ninety-seven years. The body was brought to Unadilla and the funeral services were held there on Monday, from the home of his son, W. C. Hanford, being largely attended by many of the older residents of the village and vicinity. Mr. Hanford was certainly one of the oldest, if not the oldest male resident of the county. He has been a life long resident of Unadilla and was well known throughout this and neighboring counties. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church at Unadilla for seventy-eight years and an officer for over fifty years ... Mr. Hanford is survived by four sons, John M. of Schenectady, Walter, of Fairport, and H. D. and W. C. Hanford of Unadilla, and one daughter, Mrs. J. D. Leith, of Cobleskill, all of whom were at the funeral." [The Otsego Farmer (Cooperstown, NY), Mar. 25, 1910, p. 7]
