Harlan A. Anderson, age 90, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Harlan Albert Anderson was born April 27, 1922 near Stanton, Iowa, the son of George and Harriett (Mainquist) Anderson. Upon graduation from Stanton High School in the class of 1940, Harlan started farming. Harlan was united in marriage to Rosemary Victor on January 28, 1962 in Harcourt, Iowa. They farmed on the family farm until moving into Red Oak in 1990. Harlan was a longtime member of the Evangelical Covenant Church where he served in many capacities including Deacon and Trustee. He loved Southern Gospel Music and was a sports enthusiast, especially baseball. Harlan was a very gentle, loving, Christian man who had a fun loving spirit and will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his parents; infant brother: Homer; and sisters: Norma Carlson and Hazel Sandin. Survivors include his wife: Rosemary Anderson of Red Oak, IA; children: Connie Faltynek and husband Robert of Washington, D.C.; Greg Anderson and wife June of Panora, IA; Mark Anderson and wife Sue of Simpsonville, SC; and Stephen Anderson of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Sara Turnbow, Betsy Turnbow, and Bailey Anderson of Simpsonville, SC and Terra Baumann and fiancé David Reha of Stuart, IA; sister: Lois Erickson and husband Donald of Essex, IA; many wonderful nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton, Iowa with Rev. Jerry Kosanovich officiating. Burial will be in the Mission Covenant Cemetery near Stanton. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Evangelical Covenant Church.
