Abraham Lincoln Palmer was born near here June 28, 1860, a son of Ellis and Mary Butler Palmer, and was one of a family of twelve children, only two of whom are living; a sister, Mrs. Clara Clemens, Cerro Gordo, and J. T. Palmer, Urbana. He was first married to Minnie Cunningham, who lived only seven years after their marriage. Two children were born to them. In 1905 he married Anna Henning of Bloomington, who survives. To the latter union four children were born.
All of his six children survive. They are: Earl, San Bernadino, Calif.; Claude, Miami, Fla.; Mary Belle, at home; Mrs. Helen Rogers, Azusa, Calif.; James, Long Beach Calif., and Herman, Houston, Tex. Seven grandchildren survives.
Mr. Palmer spent practically his entire life in and near Homer. He farmed and gardened much of his life. As long as he was able to work he was on the local market early each season with fruits and vegetables. Over 80 years a resident of this vicinity, until his health was impaired his mind was a store-house of early Homer history which he delighted in reviewing." - The Homer Enterprise, Thursday, April 10, 1941, Page 1 (Obituary Transcribed by the Homer Historical Society - Provided by Raymond Cunningham)
