MANSFIELD: Ralph B. Sizemore, 84, passed away early Thursday, September 6, 2012 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born in Greenville, South Carolina on June 2, 1928 to the late Ralph and Elsie (Pearson) Sizemore. Ralph possessed a great passion for life and lived each moment to the fullest. He retired from General Motors as a tool and die maker and from the U.S. Naval Reserve as Chief Petty Officer after 40 years of service. Ralph was instrumental in the organization of the Mansfield Naval Sea Cadet Corps. He also was involved in the Pioneer Golf League for General Motors employees and retirees and very much enjoyed planning the Union Christmas parties at General Motors. Golf, listening to XM Satellite Radio and many other varieties of music were some of his favorite pastimes.

He is survived by three sons, Ralph (Melinda) Sizemore of Wilmington, NC, Joseph (Mary) Sizemore of Mansfield, Nathaniel (LeeAnn) Sizemore of Kenosha, WI; a stepdaughter, Sandy (Eric) Menke of Narrangansett, RI; five grandchildren, James Sizemore, Erica (Adam) Butt, Amanda Sizemore, Michael (Michelle) Sizemore and Jennifer (Scott) Cain ; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Mary (Bob) Kitchen of Greenville, SC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Fransens Sizemore.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Friends and family may visit beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
