Benjamin Ray Ashley, 73, of Cross Lanes, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at his residence after a short illness.

He was a graduate of Clendenin High School, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, with the rank of airman third class. He was retired from Coastal Tank Lines with 28 years of service, and a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 175.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Eva Ashley; brothers, John P. and Burl Ashley; sisters, Lena Nichols, Clara B. Drake, Wilma Young and Viola Nichols.

Surviving are his sons, Jeffrey R. Ashley of Cross Lanes and Timothy R. Ashley of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Tonya Cooper of Buffalo, W.Va.; brothers, Harry Ashley of Akron, Ohio, and Earnest Ashley of North Carolina; sisters, Patty Pettit of California and Carolyn Zornes of Arizona; six grandchildren; very special friend, Ramona Bailey.
