Tate W. Calhoun, 69, of Osceola, Ind.; died Tuesday morning at his residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Avery County, N.C., he had lived in Roan Mountain, Tenn., and had resided in Indiana for the past 30 years. Mr. Calhoun was a son of the late Harrison and Frances Bentley Calhoun. He was a member of the Church of God in Mishawaka, Ind., and was an Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beulah Birchfield Calhoun, of the home; two sons, James and John Woody Calhoun, both of Osceola, Ind.; five daughters, Mrs. Janet Wingett, Mrs. Annette Rorie, Mrs. Norma Jean Walker, Mrs. Charlotte Swekempt and Mrs. Naomi Davis, all of Osceola, Ind.; two brothers, Oscar Calhoun of Elizabethton, and Jeff Calhoun of Hampton; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Calhoun Harrison of Elizabethton and Mrs. Texie Calhoun Peters of Hampton. Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Warner Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind. Interment will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Carter County, Tennessee Rescue Squad. Warner Funeral Home, 1109 Lincoln Way West, Osceola, Ind., is in charge of arrangements.
