GEORGE LINDSEY: MAN OF COURAGE,STRENGTH AND CHARACTER.

George Lindsey was born to his parents, Richard Lindsey and Lucy Young The son of Richard Lindsey, and Lucy Young. George arrived in Missouri with his mother, and first wife Martha with the family of Thomas Lindsey, and his wife Keziah Jones from Louisa, Scott County, Kentucky. He was a young man, twenty-eight years old when he was separated from wife Martha and four children, Amanda, Wilbert, Mary, and Elizabeth Lindsey, shortly after arriving in Missouri. In 1865, he married Annie Cowan, in Pettis County. This union created four children, Caleb, Sallie, Nannie, Eminitt, and George Lindsey.

On March 26, 1912, George Lindsey, son of Richard and Lucy Young, lived to be one-hundred -four years, one month and sixteen days. His accomplishments were many; landowner, businessman, community organizer founder of Georgetown's Colored Church. George was near his home in Georgetown, Mo Cemetery. Wm Alexander of Sedalia, Missouri officiated his burial.
