Clyde L. Keeney, 83, died on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Viola R. (Smith) Keeney to whom he was married for 61 years on June 9, 2012.

Mr. Keeney was born October 25, 1928, in York Township, a son of the late Clarence S. and Mamie M. (Hengst) Keeney.

He had worked at Innerst Auto and Carl Beasley Ford before becoming an auto mechanic instructor at York County Technical School, where he retired in 1991. He had been active in the AMA and raced on their motorcycle circuit in events from Daytona Beach, Fla. to Peoria, Ill. Mr. Keeney also was a fan of local sprint car racing and was a member of St. Jacob's U.C.C.

Along with his wife, Viola; Mr. Keeney is survived by three sons, Gregory D. and wife, Barbara Keeney and Jeffrey L. and wife, Mary Keeney, both of York, and Todd E. and wife, Ellen Keeney of Central City; and three grandchildren, Lindsey, Kate, and Travis Keeney. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford E. Keeney and a sister, Charlotte M. McClure.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, 100 E. George St., York New Salem with Rev. Richard Barley officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Church.

Burial will be in St. Jacob's Union Cemetery.
