Burleigh died of a heart attack at 7:30 a.m. yesterday at his home. He had been in ill health for several days.
The veteran attorney had been honored recently by the St. Landry Parish Bar Association and the Louisiana Bar Association in recognition of his half-century of legal practice.
He is survived by his wife, one son, one brother, five sisters and four grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are under direction of Lafond and Sons Funeral Home.
