On Sunday, Sept. 9, Willie Gray Stephens, 85, our mother, grandmother and the Lord's faithful servant entered into her eternal life. She passed away peacefully at Destin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center with her family at her side.

Willie was born in Walker County, Ala., to Herman and Lola Mae Wilson. She married Robert D. Stephens, an active member of the U.S. Air Force. After various assignments the couple eventually settled down in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., with their four children. When she wasn't spending time enjoying her family, Willie spent her time sewing, gardening and serving the Lord at Mary Esther United Methodist Church, where she was a long time member. Willie spent her time there leading Sunday school and her Tuesday morning Bible study group.

She is survived by her son, Robert D. Stephens Jr. (Debbie); daughter, Lisa K. Baker (Keith); granddaughters, Tammy Swank (Michael), Barbara Baker and Hannah Baker; grandsons, Andrew Jennings and Tommy Stainback; and her great-grandchildren, Danielle and David Anderson, all of whom which she adored. Upon passing, Willie was reunited with her parents, Herman and Lola Mae Wilson; brother, Buddy; husband, Robert D. Stephens; daughter, Barbara Stainback; and son, Timothy Stephens.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Mary Esther United Methodist Church, followed by a Celebration of Willie's life and a graveside burial at Beal Memorial Cemetery.

The family of Willie would like to thank the workers at Destin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and the members of Mary Esther United Methodist Church for all of the support and love they poured out during her courageous battle.
