Betty Dean, former resident of Pensacola, FL passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012.
Long-time Pensacola resident, Betty Dean worked for the Southern Bell Company for 42 years until she retired in 1984 when she then started a second career at the Pensacola NEX Navy Exchange where she worked until 2000. Betty then relocated to Arlington, TX so she could be nearer her family. Not long after arriving in Texas, she began working as a Sales Associate for Target until 2009. When she wasn't working, Betty received much joy from caring for her family, church, gardening, travelling and reading. Betty was undoubtedly a good and faithful servant of the Lord; she supported and was a long time member of the St Mark United Methodist Church on N 12th Ave.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Dean; daughter Diane Reeves; father James F Harris; her mother Mamie Flanders-Harris; her brothers Clyde Harris, Paul Harris, Kenneth Harris; and her sister Ruth Layson.
She leaves behind her sister, Ima Stewart; daughter, Donna Medlyn; 4 grandchildren, Dawn Payne, Tina Simpson, Christina Medlyn, and William Reeves. Betty is also survived by eight great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
A viewing for family and friends will be held at 4:00p.m. Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 and funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20th, 2012 at the Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel located at 3351 Scenic Highway 90 E with Rev. Nancy Watson, officiating. Burial will follow at the Milligan Cemetery near Crestview, FL., at 4:00 p.m.
