Wilma W. Matthews, age 93, born October 21, 1918, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Bortz Nursing Center in Rose City, MI.Wilma was born to Roland and Minnie Joslin, and lived most of her life in Oscoda County. She married Alvin Matthews on May 29, 1937. They had 5 daughters and 2 sons. They raised their family in Mio, where Wilma was a loving, devoted mother. She attended the Wesleyan Church of Mio, and was active in music and teaching. She is now at home with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, leaving behind a lifetime of loving memories.Surviving are her children: Sandra Matthews of Florida; Arney (Carol) Matthews of Lupton, MI; and Ron Matthews of Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alvin Matthews; her daughters: Nila Matthews, Janet Smisor, Diane Darnall, and Kay Hardy; and by her granddaughter Amy Darnall.A Graveside Service will be held for Wilma at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Michigan, on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 1 PM with Pastor Paul Heaton officiating.Arrangements by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio.
