Isadore Meyer, 77, of St. Nazianz, who worked for many years as a carpenter, both in this county and in Milwaukee, died at Holy Family hospital here Monday evening following a lingering illness.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Gregory Catholic church in St. Nazianz with the Rev. Fintan Holzknecht officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Born in the town of Eaton in 1871, Mr. Meyer married the former Anna Anhalt in 1893. Following their marriage, the couple went to Milwaukee where Mr. Meyer followed the carpenter trade until 1917 when they moved to a farm three miles west of St. Nazianz from where he continued as a carpenter. In 1930, they moved to St. Nazianz where they had continued to reside. The couple marked its golden wedding anniversary five years ago.
Mr. Meyer was a member of the St. Gregory Holy Name society and of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Surviving, in addition to the wife, are four sons, August Meyer of Clarks Mills, Raymond of Valders, Anton and Ervin of St. Nazianz; one daughter, Mrs. Theodore Lettenberger of Manitowoc; two brothers, Frank and John Meyer of Evanston, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Michael Reis of Evanston, Mrs. Charles Lustig of Milwaukee and Mrs. Frank
Stahl of Plymouth; 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Another son, Clarence, died two months ago.
The body may be viewed this evening at the Kellenbenz funeral home in St. Nazianz where the rosary will be recited at 7:30.
