My great-grandfather "Big Bud" was born to ISAAC "IKE" R. LEWIS and NARCASSIA "NURSIE" FELISSEY DENNIS LEWIS and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He married Amanda Susan "Sue" Jarman and they had two sons, my grandfather RICHARD "LEE" LEWIS and my great Uncle RILEY GARDNER LEWIS.
He died of pneumonia in August of 1895 three months before his son Riley was born in November of 1895. He was barely 24 years old. His wife Sue remarried after he passed to a Mr. Edmond B. Hatch and they had one daughter named Nora born in 1908, but little is known about her other than she perhaps suffered from what is now known as "Down's Syndrome" and lived her adult life in Dix Hill in Raleigh, NC. His grandchildren by Richard "Lee" were EUNICE LEWIS ; CHRISTIANA LEWIS FOY ; ROSA LEE LEWIS MOFFITT ; MATTIE SUSAN LEWIS ; MARY ELIZABETH "TOOTS" LEWIS RYAN and husband Eddie; KATHERINE MAE LEWIS ; BRYAN CLIFTON LEWIS, SR. and wife Glennie M. Manning Lewis; ZEALY M. LEWIS, SR., WHITLEY LEWIS ; and RICHARD KERMIT LEWIS. Great-grandchildren Edward L. Ryan, Jr., William Earl Ryan the late Clyde Cecil Ryan, the late Janie Elizabeth Ryan; Barbara Anne Lewis Guy, Bryan Clifton Lewis, Jr., the late Shelby Jean Lewis; Lynda Lewis Frisch, Michelle Lewis, Zealy M.
