Capt Blodgett was born at Fort Dearborn in 1832. He served in the 96th Illinois during the Civil War. At the Battle of Chickamauga, he did not leave the lines even after being shot in the shoulder.

He was Mayor of Waukegan in 1883 and 1884.

Originally buried in the Mausoleum at Union Cemetery, was reburied in an unmarked grave when the mausoleum was dismantled in 1997. A map of the unmarked graves can be obtained from the City of Waukegan.

The reburial was handled by Marsh Funeral Home.

The City of Waukegan says all it has is a map and a list of names.

I have contacted Marsh Funeral Home. I am hoping that they did keep records of those reburied.

I am not related to most of the people from the mausoleum. I have been researching the people from the mausoleum in order to add them to findagrave.com so their families can locate them. My only goal is to give dignity back to the families of those buried.
