Mrs. Maria Burgett, an old resident of Douglas county died at the home of her son, Walter Burgett of this city, last Saturday morning, aged 78 years.
Maria Marshall was born June 8th, 1834 in Cleveland county, Ohio. July 4, 1860, she was married to Josiah Burgett, also of Cleveland County. They lived there for two years when they moved to Richland Center, Wis., where they remained about eight years. From there they moved to Marshall, Minnesota, where they made their home for about twelve years when they moved into Lake Mary settling on a farm there. Mr. Burgett died there in 1885 and about ten years ago Mrs. Burgett moved to the city where she has since lived.
She was the mother of five children, three of whom are living: Walter Burgett and Mrs. Wm. Fox of this city and John Burgett of Ashby.
The cause of Mrs. Burgett's death was probably old age but she has been a cripple for the past sixty years suffering with paralysis in the side. The funeral was from the house, Monday afternoon, and interment was made in the Lake Mary cemetery beside that of her husband. Rev. Secord officiated.
Hannah Brugett is buried beside her husband however, she has no headstone according to the cemetery office Contributed by #46843373
