Funeral services were held at noon Nov. 20 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel in San Antonio, Texas. The Rev. Mark H. Gruebmeyer officiated.
Visitation was held from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 19 at the funeral home.
Internment followed in Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio.
Mrs. Palmer was born July 1, 1935 in Maquoketa to Ray and Glendola Streets.
She married Richard Palmer on Dec. 8, 1952 and became a U.S. Air Force military wife. She traveled and lived in many places, including Hawaii and Japan.
She retired from civil service in 1981. At that time she joined her husband in their business, Alamo Holly Sales and Service.
She loved to cook, garden and sew. She also loved taking pictures of the family and friends and had her camera with her everywhere she went.
She baked and decorated some interesting cakes over the years, including all her children's wedding cakes.
She loved watching cooking shows and collecting recipes and spent many hours in the kitchen cooking her gourmet and cuisine dishes.
She leaves behind her baby beagle, Angel.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Suzan (Mrs. Michael) Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, James (and Becky) Palmer of Lavernia, Texas and Gary (and Denise) Palmer of Garden Ridge, Texas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanne (Mrs. Maynard) Brown of Clinton; a brother, John (and Lois) Streets of Maquoketa. She was preceded in death by a son, Dickie Lee Palmer, on July 21, 1988 at the age of 34, and her parents.
