RIPLEY – James Milton "Bud" Huddleston, 82, "The Bluegrass Legend," died Sept. 20, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born June 26, 1930, to Robert Burton and Mamie Faye Whitten Huddleston in Tippah County. He was a mechanic for Farrow Ward Ford before retiring. He was a very well-known bluegrass musician throughout the South. He was a longtime faithful member of Whittentown Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon for many years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at West Ripley Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Adams and Bro. Marvin Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Whittentown Cemetery in Ripley. McBride Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Orman Huddleston of Ripley; son, Jimmy Huddleston (Tanya) of Ripley; daughter, Renaye Burks (Danny) of Ripley; sister, Alta Meadows of Ripley; three grandchildren, Tina Shelton (John) of Blue Springs, Mandy Brock (Stanley) of Ripley, and Tarhyn Ohler of Ripley; two step-grandsons, Lee Parks and Zach Johnson, both of Ripley; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Lee Paul Huddleston; grandson, Luke Ohler; two sisters, Mable Sanderson and Mildred Sanderson; and three infant brothers.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Rolfe, Zach Johnson, Jerry Sanderson, Ron Sanderson, Bro. Bob Trotter, and Bro. Stacy McKee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Parks, Bro. Doc Shelton, and all Bluegrass Musicians.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
