Robert Lee Ray, 80, of 5051 Newbolt Road, Owensboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native retired from Martin Marietta as a metal worker after 15 years and was an oil field worker and a farmer. He was a Baptist, a member of Woodmen of the World and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Martha Ruth Cummings Ray; a brother, James Ray of Pennsylvania; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Fairmount Cemetery in Henderson. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and after 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 N.W. Ninth St., Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
