HIGLEY, MARION "MIKE" LEWIS, age 80, of Hueytown, AL, formerly of Hansford, West VA, went home to be with the Lord October 9, 2009.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 28 years as an Air Traffic Controller and also retired from the State of West Virginia Finance and Administration Department.
He was a member of The Church of The Good Shephard, Hansford, West Virginia and currently attended Hueytown Bible Church, Hueytown, AL.
He was a lifetime fan of the Atlanta Braves, an avid reader of Louis L. Amoure books and loved to play pinochle.
He was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Higley, brothers, Edward, Gerald, Archie and Raymond Higley and his sister, Mary Johnson.
Survived by his wife of 57 years, Myrtle Carpenter Higley; daughter, Donna (Wayne) Caldwell; son, Edward (Sharon) Higley; grandchildren, Jason Higley, Nathan Higley, Jeannine Vaughan and Nathanael, Jonathan Caldwell and Allison and Michael, Angel, Abby and Nya Higley; great grandchildren, Nicolas Higley and Madelyn, Samuel and William Vaughan, all who they called "Pop"; sister, Hazel Verse.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of The Good Shepherd, Hansford, West, VA, with burial in Montgomery Memorial Park, London, West VA. Rev. Stan Holmes officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Pryor's Funeral Home, East Bank West, VA 304-595-2611.
