Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the Civil War as a Private in Company G, 46th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery in the Battle of Atlanta, Georgia on July 28, 1864. His citation reads "Capture of flag of 30th Louisiana Infantry (C.S.A.)". His Medal was issued on December 2, 1864.
