Peter Christoffer Hansen was the first child born to Christoffer and Martena Nelson Christensen Hansen on September 30, 1904, Greeley Township, Audubon County, Iowa.

On May 25, 1929, he married Helen Marie Herbert in Atlantic, Iowa. Peter was known for his kindness and lending a helping hand. Peter was a farmer until his retirement, residing near the family farm, in Greeley Township, Audubon County, Iowa. In addition to farming, he and his wife Helen helped raise his younger brother Walt when their father passed away at an early age. Then this couple helped raise the four children of his brother Walt and sister-in-law Arlene, when Walt passed away during the polio epidemic of 1949. Pete and Helen had no children of their own.

Peter was baptized in the Lutheran Church as an infant but later attended and became a member of the Audubon Methodist church.

Peter retired in September of 1953 due to having had two strokes. He and Helen moved to Audubon. Peter died on Wednesday November 26, 1958 having suffered from another stroke.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers: Louie J. Hansen and Walter M. Hansen.

Survivors include his wife Helen, two sisters: Mrs. Tilda Root and Mrs. Hurry (Dorothy) Nelson, both of Audubon; and two brothers, Oscar Hansen of Atlantic and John T. Christensen of Audubon, several nieces and nephews, and may friends.
