Mr. Penberthy was born in Mineral Point to James and Sarah Tonkin Penberthy. He was in business in Mineral Point serving the community with livery services and also served the surrounding area funeral homes with hearse service retiring in 1980. He was a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Cora Lanyon, Mineral Point; a nephew, Harrison Abbott, Moline, Illinois; a niece, Mrs. Marian Johnson, Ventura, California; three great-nephews, Scott and Michael Abbott, and Doug Johnson; and three great-nieces, Judy Levy, Kathy Woods and Barbara Johnson.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3 in the Graceland Cemetery, Mineral Point. Reverend Richard O'Neil officiated. There was no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Mineral Point Care Center. The Lulloff-Peterson Funeral Home, Dodgeville, was in charge of arrangements.
