Sarah A. Thomas, 91, of Moberly, formerly of Huntsville, died Tuesday, March 8, at 12:28 p.m. at the Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly.
She was born September 10, 1902 in Huntsville, the daughter of the late Gorham and Lena Thomson Burton. She lived most of her life in the Huntsville area. She was a member of the Mount Shiloh Baptist Church in Darksville. She was a member of the Town and County Homemakers and Magic Workers, both of Huntsville.
On May 21, 1921, in Huntsville, she was married to Arnold Thomas, Sr., who survives of Moberly.
Other survivors include: four sons and daughters-in-law, J. G. and Louida Thomas, Junior and Dorothy Thomas, Donald and Lyda Sue Thomas, and Norman and Vickie Thomas, all of Huntsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nettie and Kenneth Swetnam, of Huntsville, and Betty and Bob Vanderbeck, of Monroe City; two sisters, Beatrice Summers and Juanita Boland, both of Huntsville; 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, four sisters, two grandchildren, one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville, with Rev. Ron Foley, of Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Gale Spilman of Huntsville First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Huntsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Huntsville.
The family suggests memorials to the Huntsville City Cemetery.
