TIERNEY, AUBREY W. SR., 80, of Louisville, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Jewish Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was a retired buyer for International Harvester; a member of VFW Millcreek Post, Knights of St. John's and Mary Queen of Peace (St. Denis); a USSSA softball director; and a Korean Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Adele Tierney; and brother, Danny Tierney. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucille "Lucy" (Welsh) Tierney; sons, Aubrey Jr. (Sharon) and Steve Tierney (Martha); daughters, Susan Schroeder (Dennis); Cindy Johnson (John); Diane Mattingly (Ron); Laurie Poynter (Mick); sisters, Mary Emma Woosley, Sarah Drury and Rosie Gore (Charlie); grandchildren, Michelle Ecken (Jamie), Jennifer Givens (Nathan), Kelly Youngblood (Chad), Megan and Caitlin Schroeder, Aubrey III (Willie) and Chelsea Tierney, Stacey Paulin (Tommy), Sarah and Kevin Tierney, Brooke and Jesse Mattingly, Rocco Poynter, Amanda and Shelby Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Brady and Olivia Ecken, Kaden Givens, Cameron Pardue and Brayden Paulin. Special thanks to Dr. Kloecker and staff, and also the caring staff at Jewish Hospital. His funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at Mary Queen of Peace (St. Denis), 4205 Cane Run Road, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Wednesday at J.B. Ratterman & Sons-Southwest, 4832 Cane Run Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Mass of the Air or Hosparus of Louisville.
