She was born May 30, 1930 to Adolph (Jack) and Eva McCarrel Black in Grand Junction, Colorado. She married her eternal sweetheart, Frederick Blair Peters November 10, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1981.
She is survived by her step-children Tony Peters and Norman White, Peggy and Don Herbst, granddaughter Cathy, great-granddaughter Kristina (Tom) Michaud, great-great grandchildren Nicole and Joshua, brothers Clayton (Brenda) Black, Kenny (Carol) Black and their families, step-brother Gilbert Strakey, step-sister Phyllis Gribble, special sister-in-law Pat Keough, wife of late brother Mickey and their family, many dear cousins and dear friend, Linda Gold and their families, lifelong friends Bob and Carolyn Folkes and their family, adopted grandchildren, Tom, Lorie, Erin and Nicholas Kelly.
Betty valued a strong work ethic, her belief in the Lord and perseverance above all. She retired from Smith's in 1992 and enjoyed a life both before and after of travel, being active in boating, waterskiing, bowling, riding Harleys, camping, fishing and was an avid golf fan. She was a proud member of the Eagles and the MacGregor Scottish Clan. Family and friends were always dear to her heart. She always wore a smile and always stopped to help others. She will be missed and will be in our hearts forever. To know her is to love her. Betty's was a life well lived.
The family wishes to thank and extend their appreciation to the staff, caregivers and to her friends at Heritage Place and Access Hospice for their love and care.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
