DEATHS
Died, at her home in Kansas City, August 11, 1898, at 10 p.m., Mrs. E.J. Earl, aged about 27 years.
Mrs. Earl was the daughter of Mrs. Minerva Marshall, and was born and educated in this city. Here she passed her childhood days and grew to womanhood. She taught several years in our public school, and won the love of her pupils and the respect of her fellow teachers, the board of education, and patrons. Here she was married December 25, 1894, to Mr. E.J. Earl, and here, among the friends of her childhood, she will be laid to rest.
Of a cheerful, sunny disposition, she endeared herself to all who knew her. She was a model daughter, sister, wife, and above all, a child of God. In early youth she united with the Presbyterian church of this city, and at the time of her death, was a consistent member of the Grand Avenue church, in Kansas City.
Only a few weeks since she visited her mother, and seemed so well and happy; now her place in the home circle is vacant; her voice is hushed in death. Why such a life, so young, so beautiful, so useful, was taken away, we do not know; we only know that it was in the keeping of Him who doeth all things well, and that He makes no mistakes.
Thursday morning her mother received a telegram stating that she was dangerously ill. Mrs. Marshall hastened to her daughter's bedside, but a few hours after her arrival, in spite of the efforts of skilled physicians and loving friends to fight off the grim destroyer, Death laid his icy hand upon her brow, and the pure spirit too its flight heavenward to join the innumerable throng who surround the throne and sing praises unto the Lamb slain to redeem us.
Her remains were brought to Lexington Friday evening, and the funeral services will be conducted by Rev. E.C. Gordon at the residence of Mrs. Minerva Marshall, one mile southeast of town, this afternoon at three o'clock. Carriages will leave the Presbyterian church at two o'clock.
To her bereaved husband, mother, sisters and brothers we extend our heartfelt sympathy, and commend them to the care of our covenant keeping God.
