Amy Lynn Donovan of Georgetown, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2004. She was 37 years old.

She was born in Utica, New York on October 11, 1967, to Thomas and Christine Jacksina.

She graduated from Utica College with a Bachelor in Economic Crime. She was married to Terry Donovan. They had four children: daughters, Amanda and Abigail Donovan and sons, Christopher Jacksina and Chase Donovan. She and her family moved to Georgetown in 2000.

Amy followed her true calling in life and joined the Austin, Texas Police Department. She truly loved her job and her goal was to become a detective in the Homicide Detail.

Amy was killed when she was accidentally struck by a police cruiser during a foot chase. On the night of Saturday, October 30, 2004, at approximately 10:48PM, Amy and her partner Officer Adrian Valdovino, observed a suspicious person (drug suspect) in the 1300 block of Poquito Street. Amy began a foot prusuit of the suspect while Officer Valdovino followed in the patrol car. During the prusuit, while attempting to cut off the suspect, the patrol car struck Amy. She later died from her injuries. She was in the 5th month of service with the department. She is the first female officer of the Austin Police Department to die in the line of duty.

Amy loved helping others and was always a part of any charity, especially for children.

She cherished her children and was a devoted and loving mother, wife and friend.
