Chauncey graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1950. He worked with the Bendix Corporation in their aircraft research plant in South Bend, IN. He was called up for service in the Korean War in 1951. He spent a year in Korea. Upon returning, he worked for Pacific Bell in their engineering Department.

Chauncey L. Close

Chauncey L. Close, 40, Los Angeles, former Sioux Falls resident, died in a Reno, Nev., hospital Wednesday from head injuries suffered in a skiing accident at Lake Tahoe Feb. 26.

Mr. Close was born Nov. 4, 1927, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 1928 he moved with his family to Sioux Falls where his father taught at Washington High School until retiring three years ago. He was graduated from Iowa State University in 1950 and was an executive in the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co., Los Angeles.

Surviving are his widow, the former Phyllis Taylor; three children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Clark Close and his sister, Mrs. Blaine Rudolph, Canton.
