Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 29, 10:30 a.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling, for Samantha M. Bayes, 101, who passed away Thursday, January 24. Mrs. Bayes was born October 4, 1900 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Joel and Sara (Fairchild) Baldwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dord Bayes; one grandson, Harry Duane Exline; five sisters and three brothers. Surviving are one son, Alger Bayes of Springfield; three daughters, Hallie Stires of Orient, Wanda Lee Exline of Washington, C.H., Ora Baggs of Westerville; ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The service was officiated by Terry Russell and Leonard Gabbart with interment following in Darbyville Cemetery.
