Ralph Eugene Workman, 64, of Parkersburg, passed away Nov. 9, 2008, while doing yard work at his residence.

He was born in Parkersburg on May 21, 1944, the son of the late Ralph T. and Bertha Lamm Workman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had attended Parkersburg High School. He was retired from Walker Systems of Wiremold-LeGrand, with over 37 years of service.

Since his retirement, Ralph enjoyed gardening and maintaining his residence. When he wasn't fixing something or tinkering in the garage, Ralph enjoyed fishing in his pond or golfing with his cousin, Ed. Always an outdoorsman, he was a quiet man who enjoyed nature and caring for God's little creatures.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of nearly 45 years, Diane Allen Workman; his loving son, Ron and his wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Meghan, Cody, Kristin and Veronica; stepgrandchildren, Kara, Ryan, Dustin and Lyndsey; special aunt, Roxie Basnett; special mother-in-law, Marian Allen; many dear in-laws, cousins and friends; and his three dogs, Lucky, Peanut and Annie Belle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Sue Workman Davis; and his youngest son, Craig, who just passed away July 10, 2008.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens with military rites provided by the American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkersburg Humane Society or a charity of the giver's choice.
