US Congressman. He was elected as a Democrat to represent Texas' 12th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1919 to 1947. He was the son of Texas Governor Samuel Willis Tucker Lanham. He was an amateur magician, wrote two musical comedies with his brother Frank, and toured with a stage company during part of 1907.
