Johann George Wahrenberger, son of Johann Martin Wahrenberger and Anna Christine Laukardt of Germany, immigrated from Germany in 1865. In 1869, he returned to Germany, presumably to find a bride. Family history has it that he met his future wife, Anna Christina Wolter on the "Germanic" passenger liner on his return trip. The "Germanic" passenger list from Hamburg, Germany and Le Harve, France, which arrived in New York City on 9 Jun 1869, shows both of them on board. Her parents immigrated to the US later that year. George and Christina were married 26 Jan 1870 in Davenport. IA. They returned to Hartford, CT where their only child, George E. Wahrenberger, was born on 11 Nov 1870. Johann died from pneumonia in Cleveland on 26 Apr 1904 and was buried in Woodland Cemetery. His son, George is buried in same grave on top of him. The ashes for George Jr.'s only daughter and Johann George's only granddaughter, Doris Lucia Christine Wahrenberger, are also buried in the same grave.

Inscription

If there ever was a marker, it no longer exists. The grave is marked by a ground marker for his son, George, and granddaughter, Doris.
