Violet Mae Lape Swank Walters

Violet Mae Swank, 83, of Bryan, Ohio, died in the Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, Ohio,where she had been a patient several days.

The daughter of Cora Belle (Leady) and John Lape, she was born Sept. 30, 1897, in Shawtown, Ohio.

A former practical nurse, she moved to Bryan 12 years ago.

Violet was a member of the Lick Creek Church of the Brethern and a former member of the Ladies of the Moose in Sturgis, Michigan.

She is survived by four daughters, Pauline Spitznaugle of Goshen, IN., Lucille Burggrave of Bryan, OH., Dorothy Braden of Mt. Gilead, OH., and Lois Knorr of Antwerp, OH., Two sons, Harold Swank of Ligonier, IN., and Scott Swank of Goshen, IN. 25 Grandchildren: 54 Great-grandchildren: and nine Great-Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Iris Mae Swank in 1947, a son Gerald in 1913, a daughter Thelma in 1914, two stillborn sons, and her two husbands, Elvey Ray Swank in 1954 and Edward Walters in 1968.

Funeral services were held in the Lick Creek Church of the Brethern, Bryan, Ohio with Rev. Harley Martin officiating. Burial was in Oakridge Cemetery, in Goshen, In.
