Emmer David Carman was born January 29, 1832 probably in Rutland, Tioga County, Pennsylvania and died August 16, 1884 in Spring Creek Precinct, Johnson County, Nebraska. He was the son of Israel Carman and Charity Lockwood Curry. He married Martha Elizabeth Bearden March 29, 1860 in Mason County, Illinois. She was born about 1843 in Illinois, and died between February 26, 1876 and June 04, 1880. She is not listed with the family in the 1880 Federal Census for Nodaway County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Joseph Bearden and Martha Hardwick.

Emmor D. Carman died Saturday, August 16, 1884, of consumption, aged 52 years.

Mr. Carman has been sick eighteen months, but bore his trial with patience and fortitude. During the latter days of his illness he had been at the house of his brother, A. A. Carman, in Spring Creek. Mr. Carman was born in Tompkins County, New York, January 29, 1832. He leaves six children. The services were conducted by Elder Thurber, and the remains interred last Sunday in the Spring Creek cemetery.
