Obituary from Milbank newspaper:
JESS F. BUCY SUDDENLY SUMMONED BY DEATH
Jess F. Bucy of this city died very suddenly Sunday evening of cerebral hemorrhage. He had been suffering for some time with goiter and other complications, and under the care of a doctor, but was up and about, and having been an unusually strong and hearty man for his years, his sudden death came as a complete surprise to both family and friends. He was up and about the house Sunday, although not feeling well. About suppertime Mrs. Bucy, who had been waiting upon him, stepped into another room for a minute or two, and hearing a peculiar noise rushed to him only to find that the spark of life had left him.
Deceased was born in Fenton County, Illinois, July 31, 1860, and had reached the age of 68 years and 11 days. After coming to South Dakota he resided on a farm north of this city for twelve years, and for the past four years had made Milbank his home. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his passing four sons, Charles, Watertown, S.D.; John, Madison Township, this county, and Walter and Kenneth, Valley City, N. D. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Modern Woodmen lodges of this city, in both of which he took an active interest. He also is survived by five brothers, 3 sisters and 5 grand children. He was married July 1, 1891, to Miss Rachael Cruickshank.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon with services at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Blackburn, following which interment was made in Milbank cemetery. The last rites were largely attended, attesting the esteem in which he had been held by his many friends and neighbors. The services at the grave were in charge of the Knights of Pythias. The sympathy of the community is extended to bereaved family.
