Mrs. Effie A. Crittenberger, wife of Dale J. Crittenberger of Anderson, editor and publisher of the Anderson Bulletin, died Wednesday afternoon in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where she had been a patient several days following an attach of appendicitis.
Mrs. Crittenberger was born in Anderson August 16, 1866, and always lived there. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Daniels, now dead, were among early residents of Anderson. Her father was a banker for many years and postmaster.
Mrs. Crittenberger was graduated from Anderson High School and since girlhood was active in the social and church life of Anderson She was a member of the Anderson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Tourist club, Clio Club, and others, and she also contributed to the charitable organizations of Anderson. She was a lifelong member of the Central Christian Church in Anderson.
At the home of the Crittenberger family, Mrs. Crittenberger frequently entertained clubs and friends. She was in good health until two weeks ago when she was stricken with appendicitis. Besides her husband, Mrs. Crittenberger is survive by three sons, Major Willie D. Crittenberger, instructor in the United States Cavalry School at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas; George D. Crittenberger, City Editor of the Anderson Bulletin; John Crittenberger, Pittsburgh; and a daughter, Miss Juliet V. Crittenberger of Anderson. Two brothers also survive, Edward A. Daniels, one of the publishers of the Anderson Bulletin; and W. H. Daniels of Savannah, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 4 p.m. from the home in Anderson.
