Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ross Hollywood Chapel for Maurine Newell, a Milwaukie resident, who died Wednesday at a local hospital of an apparent heart attack. She was 60. Mrs. Newell was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., and moved to Oregon in 1943. She moved to Milwaukie 18 years ago. She worked as a cashier for Fred Meyer's for 25 years until 1968. She also was a retired office clerk. She worked for Wilson Sporting Goods for many years. She was a volunteer worker at the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. She was a member of Al Zahrah Court 58 of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. She is survived by her husband, David; son, Gerald, of Portland; daughters, Beverly M. McCullars of Portland, and Loretta J. Murray of Sandy; brother, Ralph M. Chadwick of Reedsport; and six grandchildren. Private vault interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
