A service to celebrate Lila's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Wayne Kent officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Dawson & Wikoff North Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
Lila was born September 13, 1919 in Shelbyville, IL the daughter of William F. and Chloe (Curlin) Severe. Lila grew up in Decatur and graduated from Stephen Decatur High School, class of 1937. She married Roy W. Edwards, a World War II Veteran, on March 25, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1977. She leaves behind two sons: Bruce L. Edwards and his wife Lynn of Seattle, WA and Pastor Dennis Edwards and his wife Linda of Mt. Zion; grandson: Travis Edwards and his wife Goldie of Decatur, great grandchildren: Keith, Ashley, and Trevor Edwards all of Decatur; niece: Jane Batterby and her husband Russ of Morris, IL and nephew: Jim Severe and his wife Paula of Bluegrass, IA.
Lila was a travel agent with Franklin Travel. She retired in 2001. She was a world traveler and she also enjoyed boating, entertaining, and gardening. She was a active member of the Dolphin Boat Club, the U.S. Power Squadro, the Garden Club, and Garden Kee. She loved time spent with family and friends. She was a member of First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother Leo Severe.
