Martha Elizabeth Leader was baptized on 3 June, 1827, in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, England, daughter of John Leader and Rhoda Walker.
She moved to New York, on the Brig Meridian, landing on 13 October, 1834.
From there, the family moved to Blenheim, Oxford, Ontario, Canada.
Young Martha lasted only one year in the cold Canadian winter. She has the earliest surviving tombstone in the cemetery.
