This family arrived in Shelby County in June of 1882; before settling in Sharon township, Audubon County in 1884. They earned their living as farmers.

On 3 October 1890, Jorgen married Kristine "Marie" Hansen, at the Danske Evangelisk Lutherske Bethlehems Menighed, Harlan, Shelby Co., IA. Marie immigrated as an orphan from Denmark, then married and became a widow of ___Christensen. This was Jorgen's first marriage, and Marie's second. Jorgen and Marie lived in Sharon township, section 15, east of Sharon Center.
