Richard Larry Poston, 79, of Potlatch, ID, passed away Dec. 21, 2010, at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow.

Larry was born Sept. 25, 1931, at Potlatch, to Zephaniah Jackson and Tinsy Eskridge Poston. Larry attended Potlatch schools and graduated from Potlatch High School in 1950.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He was on the DE USS George A. Johnson and PC 1590.

He married Louann (Ann) Smith July 25, 1951, in Moscow, ID. The couple made their home in Honolulu, until his discharge from the Navy. In 1954, the couple made their home at Potlatch, where Larry was employed at Potlatch Forests Inc. as a planer and later became supervisor until the mill closed. In June 1986, the couple moved to Omak, WA, where Larry was employed by Colville Indian Precision Pine and worked as a planer until his retirement in 1995. The couple moved back to Potlatch in 2003.

Larry attended the Presbyterian Church at Potlatch, was a member of the Potlatch Fire and Ambulance crew, American Legion at Potlatch, and the Potlatch Post No. 10300 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Larry was an avid hunter, and enjoyed gardening and bowling. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ann Poston, of Potlatch; two daughters, Terri Poston and Debbie (Scooter) Rochon; three sisters, Loretta Vowels, Lorraine (Buzz) Cann, and Patty (Gene) Hill; two grandchildren, Sara (Derick) Stonesifer, and Mackenzie Rochon; and one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Bruce Poston; and two sisters, Eunice Getz and Jackie Strom.
