John Bean was a miner and former farmer who had lived in Rossland for ten years. He was the son of Russell Bean; married, no information on spouse. The informant was L. A. Bean of Rossland, per familysearch.org online copy of BC Archives death certificate 1915-09-180989.

John Luke Bean (bachelor age 23, born Sherbrooke QC, son of Russell and Mahala Bean) and Agnes May Morrell (spinster age 21, born Londonderry NS, daughter of Henry and Hannah Morrell) were married in Rossland BC on 13 Jul 1908, per familysearch.org transcription of BC Archives marriage certificate 1908-09-165672.

His widow Agnes remarried, to William Wallace Dixon, in Nelson BC in 1916. She died in 1926 in Butte MT.

From the Rossland Miner of Monday, January 3, 1916 (P4C2):
THE FUNERAL of the late John Bean, who was found suffocated Friday morning in the Centre Star mine the fumes of a powder explosion overcoming him, took place from his late residence Sunday, Rev. Barlow, of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was in the City cemetery. Numerous friends of the unfortunate man attended the funeral. the pallbearers were James Jarvis, Archie Ewen, Geo. Robb, P. R. McDonald, Jack Henderson and Thos. Embleton.
