Bruce Layne Bowen, 53, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, from complications of diabetes. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Woodland West Church of Christ, 3101 W. Park Row Drive, Arlington. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth Bruce went to Allen Military Academy in the sixth grade. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1977 and attended TCJC and Mountain View College. Bruce worked at General Dynamics for about seven years. Bruce proudly attended umpire school in Miami, Fla. He loved baseball and fishing. Bruce worked as a sports writer for a newspaper in Ingleside. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Ben B. Bowen, in December 2011. Survivors: Mother, Dorothy Ann; brother, Ben Craig; nephew, Ryan and wife, Starlinda; great-nephew and great-nieces, Bishop, Breleigh and Reagan.
